WAKE UP TO THE DARK - The Responsorial Psalm for this weekend begins like this: “I have waited, waited for the Lord.” David claims that while he was in a very difficult place — one he describes as a desolate pit and a miry bog — he waited patiently for God. To be honest, this makes me chuckle because David was known for lots of things, but patience was not necessarily one of them. The Hebrew word for ‘wait’ in this passage is ‘qavah’ and it can also mean ‘weave together’. This indicates there is purpose in the waiting times of our lives. Formation occurs during those periods in our lives that seem stagnant and silent. These are powerful words of hope to us all when we find ourselves in a time of waiting and in the wilderness.
