GRACE IN THE MIST OF DEATH - Please read the Gospel for today. On the night before Jesus died, these are the words he chose to share with his disciples. Listen carefully as if you were one of the disciples. What do you hear? What phrase catches your attention the most vividly? What did you hear Jesus saying to you?
• Death often clarifies the things that matter, and this can be a grace we discover.
Read the poem:
|
It cannot cripple love.
It cannot shatter hope.
It cannot corrode faith.
It cannot destroy peace.
It cannot kill friendships.
It cannot suppress memories.
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot invade the soul.
It cannot steal eternal life.
It cannot conquer the Spirit.

Would you like to pray over your experiences with death.
• What do you remember the most?
• What was difficult?
• What was unexpected?
• What became important? Unimportant?
• What regrets, if any, do you have about that time?
• Were there any graces or consolations you were aware of, even in the midst of death?

Prayer Time
Would you like to reflect on the qualities of Jesus’ nature? Please spend some time in silence, “sitting” with your experiences in Jesus’ presence.
Close the prayer time by saying a prayer (praises, thanksgivings, confessions, questions, intercessions) that has surfaced from your silent reflection time.
