The late Bishop Ken Untener of Saginaw, Michigan wrote the following prayer in 1979, following the murder of Archbishop Oscar Romero, who was shot while celebrating Mass for his prophetic stand for the rights of the poor and powerless in El Salvador. Bishop Ken Untener titled this “Prophets of a Future Not Our Own,” but it has become more commonly known as “Oscar Romero’s Prayer”.
